Agriturismo Palazzo Rosso Farm

Holiday Apartments in a historic residence

Welcome to Palazzo Rosso Farm and holiday apartments: a historic 17th century Villa and 400 acre organic arable farm, 15 kms south of the beautiful Unesco world heritage city of Vicenza, in the heart of the Veneto countryside near Venice in northern Italy.

In 2006 one of the barns of Palazzo Rosso was painstakingly restored to offer 6 holiday rental apartments and a swimming pool.

The farm is owned and run by Silvia Zini and her husband Philip Frankland with their two children Peter and Daniela.

Apartments

We have 6 holiday rental apartments built into the south facing wing of Palazzo Rosso. The 400 year old building was completely and lovingly restored in 2006, retaining all original features such as beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc.
During the restoration we installed solar panels to produce both electricity and hot water and a heat pump heating/cooling system to ensure that the entire building would be completely energy efficient and independent.
There is a 300 square metre, 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5×6 metre pool with jacuzzi jets was installed in the spring of 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and paddocks for our animals, which include Horses, Ponies, Donkeys, Cows, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Chickens, Turkeys, Geese, Ducks and Cats and Dogs ! The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Berici hills to the west, the Villa courtyard garden to the north and our 20 acre Vineyard to the east.
There is also a 110 square metre Common room on the ground floor with a kitchen and table for 14, bathroom with shower, computer and printer, Tv, Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3, Pool table and Table Football. On the first floor there is also a very big covered outdoor terrace (140 square metres) with tables and chairs and a great view out over the south facing garden, pool area, paddocks and our farm.

Palazzo Rosso has been a working farm since at least the 17th century (we found a map from 1624 with the Villa and farm already visible). It is made up of 400 organic certified acres of arable farm land which we manage with the help of two farm employees. We grow a variety of crops such as Wheat, Mais, Soia, Sugar beet, Sunflower, Rape Seed, Barley, Potatoes, Alfalfa and Rye Grass. We also produce roughly 100 tons of grapes for a local wine cooperative, which include Pinot, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet and we have just planted 5 acres of Prosecco grapes

Our stay was all we could have wished for!!

We are a family of four, with our children being 21 & 19. Our stay at Palazzo Rossi (apartment 6 upstairs) was all we could have wished for. Sylvia and Phil's real heartfelt warmth and passion for the area was sublime. The relaxed atmosphere, free organic eggs and wine available at a nominal cost was great. The majority of the wine was actually from the vineyard on site and organic!!. From here, we visited Venice and Verona which are both approx 1 hours drive. We also made use of the free bikes and visited many local villages, via a very enjoyable cycle route, that included the historic and gorgeous Vicenza. The barbecue on site is a must for a chilled night, but eating out at the local restaurants/pizzerias must not be missed either. Our favourite, as recommended and booked for us by Phil and Sylvia was al Volto. The food, wine and service was amazing. Whether a family with young children or a couple wanting a relaxing holiday, you will not find better. The location is set in the countryside and definitely not to be missed. Thank you to Phil and Sylvia for helping make it a memorable holiday.

Palazzo Rosso is stunning. Very well kept and the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday or base to explore the region. The flat was immaculate and extremely well catered for. The swimming pool and surrounding are clean and spacious. This is a hidden gem! A tribute to both Phil and Silvia’s (and their team) ..We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
